Complete 16 volume "The Art of Sewing" hardcover book set featuring funky period fabric covers published by Time-Life Books (1973-1976)
Heavily illustrated throughout with photos and instructional diagrams. A truly beautiful collection for crafters and hobbyists of all levels! Each book measures roughly 9.5" x 11.5", is about .5" thick with heavier, high quality paper stock & printing and weighs around 1.75 lbs. So packaged for shipment, the entire set weighs over 30lbs.
Interior condition of most books is very good to near mint, appearing to have never been used with only minor wear from age and shelving. Bindings are tight, pages are clean and crisp. Many of these came from a private library at the Home Economics department of Salem College. In 5 this is written very neatly in small script at the top corner of the leader page, along with the year of acquisition. A few appear to have been replacements purchased secondhand, 2 have old prices penciled on the leader page, one with a small address label of a prior owner. Minor foxing noted in one book, no other noted markings, folds, tears, highlights, etc.
COVERS: None of the fabric portions of the covers have major wear, stains, etc. but some have some fading minor discoloration from age. The pink "Classic Techniques" book has more notable fading on the left edge. The stiffer material used on the spine side of the covers has cracked on two books (bindings still intact and well attached) and there are more minor creases & small cracks at tops and/or bottoms of a couple others. The "Novel Materials" book has a cover which uses harder textured material rather than typical fabric and there is a surface to the right side.
The title of each appears on the left side of the front cover and down the spine in a thin line font embellished with silver embossing. Some books have minor fading or rubbing to that embossing.
